One of the highlights of the official announcement of Coscharis franchise was the visit of
members of the House Committee on Industry from the Federal House of Assembly who
as part of their oversight functions had a facility tour of the Coscharis Assembly Plant
located at their group head office in Lagos where the new Geely variants are being
assembled. According to the Chairman of the Committee who led the House delegation,
Rt. Honorable (Dr) Enitan Badru, ”our visit to Coscharis Assembly Plant is to have an on
the spot assessment of the Plant for us to be able to know in specific terms where they
need our interventions in terms of enacting relevant laws to protect such investment.
This surely will help us legislate on every support required to encourage such local
Organizations to further invest in our Country towards achieving the best intentions of
the government of the day”.
In the same vein, the Director – General of National Automotive Design and
Development Council (NADDC) who was represented by the Director Research and
Development in person of Dr. Fidelis Achiv who equally led his team to visit the
Coscharis Assembly Plant together with the House members commended Coscharis on
the Assembly Plant that has rolled out different brands and now delivering the Geely
brand. The agency promised to give all the necessary support it deserves to succeed in
delivering the expected value for the country.

Institute of Directors, Nigeria in recognition for his exceptional

According to the Institute’s President and Chairman of Governing
Council, Alhaji Tijjani Borodo, LLM at the recently held Fellow’s
Night and Investiture, themed: Public Sector Governance Code: The
Route to Public Sector Excellence & National Development; is meant
to induct outstanding contributors to Private and Public Sector
Governance in their respective fields. Alhaji Borodo said, “Dr.

Renault, the esteemed global automotive manufacturer renowned for its French heritage,
reaffirm their steadfast support for vehicle assembly operations in Nigeria in partnership with
Coscharis Motors Assembly Limited. This commitment was underscored by Laurent Ton-That,
Area Operation Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa & Indian Ocean Islands, during his recent visit
to the Coscharis Motors Assembly Plant in Awoyaya, Lagos.

During the visit, Laurent Ton-That commended Coscharis Motors for its state-of-the-art facility,
where Renault's Duster (SUV) and Logan (sedan) models are locally assembled. He personally
inspected key production lines including chassis/body assembly, brake testing, vehicle vibration
testing, and paint/body inspection, expressing satisfaction with the facility's capabilities.
"I am impressed by what I have seen today," remarked Laurent Ton-That. "Renault is
committed to supporting Coscharis Motors Assembly by providing necessary KD kits, training,
and other essential resources."

Coscharis Group appoints Fred Amobi as the Deputy Group Managing Director

Following the exit of Dr. Okey Nwuke, the board of Coscharis Group has approved the appointment of Mr. Fred Amobi to the position of the Deputy Group Managing Director of the organization effective from 1st August, 2023.

In a Group-wide announcement made by the President of Coscharis Group, Dr Cosmas Maduka, CON, “Fred will in this new role continue to oversee Group functions – Finance, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Strategy, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Legal, Internal Control and Information Technology. He will now additionally oversee subsidiary companies both within and outside Nigeria”.

Mr Amobi joined Coscharis Group in 2016 as Group Executive Director, Operations. Before joining Coscharis Group, he has worked many years in Lafarge in Nigeria, United Kingdom and Malaysia in different capacities including Finance Director/Chief Financial Officer of Lafarge Cement Wapco Nigeria Plc and Director, Ready Mix operations, Lafarge Africa Plc.

Prior to joining Lafarge, he was the Commercial Director, East / West at Nigeria Bottling Company Plc (a Coca – Cola Hellenic Company) amongst other leadership roles within the Coca – Cola system.

Earlier, he has also held various positions within UAC of Nigeria Plc including Divisional Commercial Director (BPP / Kalamazoo) and Finance Director (Spring Waters Nigeria Ltd – a subsidiary of UAC of Nigeria Plc).

Fred Amobi is a fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. He is also a member of Institute of Directors, Nigeria. He graduated with a Distinction in Accountancy from the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu. He also holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from ESUT Business School.

He has attended many senior and executive management/leadership programs in many top rated international institutions including Harvard Business School and Management Center Europe.

Coscharis Motors Plc, the exclusive representative of the iconic French automobile brand, Renault vehicles in Nigeria gave members and friends of the late Golf buff, Chief Luke Uche Okpuno a memorable experience of the French brand during the recently held memorial tournament at the Ibori Golf and Country Club in Asaba, Delta State.

The major highlight of the tournament was the sponsorship of the Hole-In-One prize of a Renault Duster donated by Coscharis Motors Plc. This expectedly raised the bar of the tournament with both the Pros and others that participated aiming at going home with the star prize but unfortunately, it was a tall order for any of the golfers that participated to hit the hole in one but ultimately it still created the real fun of the game for all the participants.

In his words, Abiona Babarinde, General Manager, Marketing & Corporate Communications, Coscharis Group who represented the sponsor, he said “our sponsorship of this tournament with a Renault Duster for the Hole-In-One prize amongst other donations made towards the success story of the tournament was to first and foremost celebrate a loyal customer of Coscharis in his lifetime in person of late Chief Luke Uche Okpuno and to do that is to key into his favourite sport of Golf when he was alive. Award-winning engines

The Grenadier has been developed to be refined on the road and extraordinarily capable off-road. The Grenadier is powered by a choice of two straight-six, 3.0-litre BMW engines. Both the BMW B57 diesel and B58 petrol powertrains have a proven track record, regularly appearing in top ten world’s best engine lists since 2016. They have been used in everything from sports cars to SUVs.

The two power units bring BMW’s sophistication and refinement to the Grenadier, but they have been enhanced by INEOS Automotive’s engineering team. The carefully calibrated characteristics help the driver to confidently manage the vehicle’s momentum and grip without stressing the engine, ensuring full control when tackling tricky terrain. The refined turbo petrol engine produces 286PS (210kW) and 450Nm (332 lb ft) of torque, while the twin-turbo diesel generates 249PS (183kW) and 550Nm (406 lb ft), for even greater pulling power. Start/stop is built-in, increasing range and preserving air quality when the vehicle is stationary.

While it’s every inch a rugged 4X4, it ticks all the right boxes on the road, too. The chassis combines a five-link suspension setup with Brembo brakes and Bridgestone tyres, meaning the Grenadier is composed, well- mannered and fun to drive no matter what the terrain.

Global and local network

By the end of this year INEOS Automotive plans to have a network of more than 200 sales and service sites for the Grenadier spanning over 50 countries, including established dealer groups, 4X4 specialists and agricultural equipment dealers.

 

Now that the agreement with INEOS Automotive has been signed, Coscharis Motors will focus on readying its dedicated Grenadier showroom in Victoria Island, Lagos. The first Grenadier demonstrator vehicles are expected to arrive in Nigeria in early 2023 with customer deliveries expected to commence within the first quarter. All aftersales servicing will be conducted at a dedicated workshop also located in Lagos.
